We know you want to eat healthy food. But when you don't have enough money, it's hard to afford all that you and your family needs.

Our programs distribute FREE food to anyone in need.
We are here to make sure that
no one in the North End of Saint John goes hungry.

What do I need to bring?
Bring your identification that shows your proof of address and we’ll get you registered.
  • Medicare cards for each person in your household
  • Copies of hydro bill, lease, etc - something with your name & address on it

What to Expect
We recognize that if you need a food bank, you are likely experiencing challenges in your life. We create a welcoming environment for all. In order to make your visit a positive experience, the North End Food Bank staff and volunteers create an environment of mutual respect and caring for all food bank clients.

What kind of food will I receive?
Our hampers include a variety of nutritious food including canned/packaged food and fresh items like milk, produce, and meat. Please keep in mind that your choice of food depends on what is available.

Will I get to choose what kind of food I receive?
We try to give some choices in the food provided based on Canada’s Food Guide. While all supplies are not available every week, we do our best to provide the same things to all clients on each visit. We try to accommodate specialized dietary needs like gluten free, halal and sugar free.

Will it be embarrassing to come to a food bank?
All clients are treated with dignity and respect. People from all different walks of life use a food bank, so don’t worry that you and your family will be put in an embarrassing situation. Any information gathered during your private interview is kept confidential.
